For information
about Junior Membership, please contact our
State Junior Membership Chairman,
Anne Witherspoon.
The National Junior Membership Committee was established in 1937. The
goals are: to gain new Junior members; to build a well-informed
Junior membership; to encourage active participation in all phases of
DAR service; and to support the National Junior Membership Committee’s
official fund-raising project - the Helen Pouch Memorial Fund.
A Junior Member is a DAR member age 18 through 35 years of age (until
her 36th birthday). She holds full membership in the National
Society, State Society, and Chapter, and when qualified, she may serve
as an officer and chairman at all levels. Texas Juniors are college
students, career women, and stay-at-home moms. Juniors join DAR for a
variety of reasons and have diverse interests. Working together for a
common goal forges many friendships and offers endless opportunities
for personal and professional growth. The Texas Society supports
Junior Membership by encouraging active participation within all
levels of the organization. Juniors are the future of DAR. Texas
Daughters are proud of our Juniors!

The Helen Pouch Memorial Fund is the National Junior Membership Committee’s official fund-raising project. This fund is named in memory of Helen Pouch (1901-1919) who was the daughter of Mrs. William H. Pouch, the first National Chairman of the Junior Membership Committee in 1937, and later President General, 1941-1944. The fund provides scholarships, medical aid, and general financial assistance to the two DAR supported schools,
Kate Duncan Smith DAR School in Alabama, and
Tamassee DAR School in South Carolina.
The

display Tex and her daughter, Tex Ann, at every state function.
Both are dressed to serve as pages, wearing
their white dresses, gloves,
pearls, and sash. The sash features a cameo, the symbol of a
multi-generational club.

The title of Honorary Junior was created in 2004 and is awarded annually to a Texas Daughter who is not currently a Junior Member, but is a strong advocate for Junior Membership. The honor is held for the member's lifetime. These ladies, nominated by fellow Texas Daughters, are considered to be "Juniors at heart" and show extraordinary support for Juniors. They help Juniors by supporting Junior activities and promoting Junior Membership. Honorary Juniors receive an official Texas crown and sash. Shown below are all of our Honorary Juniors.
